What is Agility?

The seed for the sport of Agility was sown in 1977 when Peter Meanwell created an Agility course as a demonstration for Crufts in 1978 to fill in the gaps in the main ring between competitions and breed showing to keep the public interested. It has certainly kept them glued to their seats (and TV screens when televised from Crufts)  watching what has become a fully blown sport all over the world.  There are even World Championships every year hosted by different countries.

It is a sport that has very strict rules so that it is a fast course and a safe one for the dogs and handlers.  But very exciting to watch.
There are different obstacles. Hurdles, Tunnels, long jumps, Seesaw, Dog Walk, an A Frame, a Table and the weaves. In the USA they also have "open tunnels" which we don't have in the UK.
